ACORN Antiques returns to the stage following last year's 16-week sold-out run at London's Theatre Royal Haymarket.

The show playing at Cardiff's Wales Millennium Centre from July 2 to July 7 will see multi award-winning comedian and writer Victoria Wood making her stage directing debut.

Acorn Antiques was first seen on BBC Television 21 years ago and has been a firm favourite ever since.

A DVD of the Theatre Royal production starring the original TV cast of Julie Walters, Celia Imrie and Duncan Preston is now available.

The show follows Miss Babs' struggle to keep her antiques business open, as shop after shop in the High Street is forced out by faceless chains.

Can she afford to turn down the offer from The Guilty Bean (the world's second biggest chain of coffee shops - motto "We're second so we grind harder" - and if they do update the shop, can they still afford to employ Mrs Overall?

Will Mr Clifford ever get his memory back, and remember who he's engaged to? And most the most worrying question of all, will Mrs Overall be able to tap while holding the tray?

Tickets for the show cost between £5 and £29 and are available from the box office on 08700 402000.
