Leaders Belstone moved a step closer to the title with a stoppage-time winner.

The win puts the Elstree-based club in a very commanding position with six games to play.

Belstone took a while to settle, with Broadfields enjoying the greater share of possession, but it was the visitors who scored against the run of play on 20 minutes when captain Chris Ingham hit a free-kick into the top corner.

This seemed to raise Belstone and now Broadfields were at full stretch to keep the score down.

But a lapse in concentration resulted in an equaliser after 35 minutes.

A free-kick was not cleared properly and the ball was looped back in and knocked home from close range.

The second half started slowly, but Nick Turner, who had a fine game at the back, had to head off the line to prevent the hosts from taking the lead.

As the half wore on, Broadfields went in search of the winning goal, but this allowed Belstone to counter-attack, which they did to good effect.

Steve Quinn was only denied by three good saves from the Broadfields keeper.

With the game heading for a draw, Belstone scored the winning goal deep into injury time in dramatic fashion. Substitute Matthew Cole, who worked tirelessly, charged down a clearance on the edge of the area and the ball fell kindly for Quinn, who appeared to be in an offside position, but, with no flag, he drew the keeper, rounded him and smashed the ball into an empty net.
