LOVING parents whose baby girl died tragically at just eight months old found a special way to commemorate her.

David and Nicky May, of Primrose Walk in Southminster, married on Saturday, which would have been their daughter Katie-Louise's first birthday.

Katie-Louise was born 12 weeks early weighing just 1lb 8oz.

After months of special care she was finally allowed home only to be struck down with a virus just before Christmas and rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Katie-Louise, described by her parents as a little fighter who had the smiliest bonniest little face you would ever see, lost her battle and passed away on Boxing Day.

Since then Mrs May said she has had good days and bad days coping with her grief.

She said: "I still walk around the house as if she is with me.

"But my friends and family have all been outstanding."

Just five weeks ago she decided that as she and her fiance were already on a caravaning holiday with close family and friends over Easter, and it would have been her daughter's birthday, it was a perfect time for them to get married.

Therefore, on Saturday the couple tied the knot at Deben Register Office, near Woodbridge in Suffolk.

After the service, for which the bride was fashionably late, but had fabulous hair, the happy couple and 26 guests, including Katie-Louise's three godparents, made their way to the village pub to enjoy scampi and chips washed down with Bacardi Breezers.

From there they put on some music in a marquee on the caravan site where they were staying and boogied into the early hours.

Mrs May said: "It was completely different to any other wedding I have ever been to.

"It was so relaxed and was just a whole day of fun.

"Katie-Louise would have loved it, she would have been wearing a little frilly white frock and would have been the centre of attention all day."

Of her husband the 36-year-old funeral arranger said: "He is an absolute rock.

"I could never have got through the last four months without him, he is my best friend and everything I want."
