A DAY of free blood pressure checks has been held by two charities.
Eltham Phoenix Rotary Club and the Stroke Association have been working together for five years to help combat high blood pressure.
Their latest event was held at health clinic Direct Health 2000, St Mary's Place, Eltham, on Saturday.
Doctors and nurses from the area helped out at the session.
Rotary club secretary Sally Till said: "There were 103 residents who stopped by the clinic and had their blood pressure measured.
"It only took a few minutes but it could have helped to save lives.
"There are often no symptoms of high blood pressure, so these measurements are vitally important."
Each year, an estimated 150,000 people across the UK suffer a stroke.
High blood pressure is a major cause of strokes.
