AS a member of the early morning dog walking fraternity, I notice that during the past week Bromsgrove District Council's alchohol free zone' initiative appears to be failing miserably judging by the number of empty beer bottles and cans strewn over areas of both the park and playing fields.
I also assume this is the root cause of acts of vandalism in and around the park area. Does the council expect the problem to be solved by merely erecting signs on lamp posts around the demarcation area?
Having implemented this initiative is someone now going to take responsibilty for the monitoring, management and enforcement of it? Otherwise it seems a totally pointless exercise, especially with the whole of the summer months yet to come.
Praise should also be given to the park staff for carrying out clean up duties on a daily basis which I suspect takes a large amount of time and detracts from other more important duties.
