A furniture manufacturing firm has revealed plans to centralise its distribution centre to Preston.
Bosses at Tetrad, Hardford Mill, Swan Street, off Ribbleton Lane, have negotiated a new lease on a 70,000sq ft site in Channel Way, Preston Docklands, which will co-ordiante deliveries for all the group's UK and overseas operations.
The new distribution centre is expected to be operational by August this year.
Group managing director, Martin Griffin, said: "This is a strategic move allowing the group to develop a bespoke centralised distribution facility and consolidate an already successful manufacturing base in a more suitable and up-to-date facility."
The company also plan to move the operation of its Contrast Upholstery site in Sabden, near Blackburn, to the new Preston centre with the relocation of the firm's 66 staff. A consultation with Contrast employees about the proposal is currently taking place.
