LEWISHAM East MP Bridget Prentice has welcomed a council's decision to reject a storage company's application.

Lewisham Council's planning committee has again rejected an application by the Big Yellow Self Storage company to build a warehouse on the corner of Baring Road and St Mildred's Road in Grove Park.

The application by Big Yellow was unanimously rejected on April 12.

It was the seventh time the company has tried to submit its warehouse plans, which on each occasion have been opposed by residents living in the area.

Ms Prentice said: "I attended this meeting and was delighted this application has finally been turned down.

"This is an important victory. I would like to pay tribute to the large number of residents who have worked incredibly hard over the past five years to stop this eyesore being inflicted on their community."
