I hope that on 3rd May, people will choose to re-elect a majority Welsh Labour Government.

Having been born and brought up in South East Wales and lived and worked here all my life, I care passionately about the area and its people and strongly believe that we are well served by a Labour led Assembly.

I have seen this as a City Councillor and Transport Scrutiny Chair - and as someone who sits on governing bodies of schools, community centres and a housing trust.

I have also seen this professionally, as a lawyer working in education.

We need a Labour Assembly because: The 18 years of desperation, desolation and despair under the Tories meant:
* Mass unemployment
* Economic disaster for huge swathes of South Wales
* Meanness in health and education
It would be madness to go back to that - only Labour can stop the Tories from running our schools and hospitals because only Labour is giving a cast iron guarantee that we won't go into a coalition with the Tories.

Labour is building a better Wales. Today there are more people in work than ever before, free prescriptions for everyone, free bus passes for older people and record investment in health.

Labour has the plans and the policies to take Wales forward. Over a third term, Labour is pledging to help more people into work, keep prescriptions free, keep free bus passes and deliver still more investment in health.

We are committed to social inclusion, a 10 year strategy in social services to ensure decency and dignity for those in need and the eventual abolition of child poverty.

In the NHS, Labour is pledged to further cut waiting times, to ensure that all who want it will have access to NHS dentistry, and to help bring hospital cleaners back into the NHS.

In education, Labour is building a 21st century education system, with 1,700 more teachers than in 1998. Labour will provide free child care for two-year-olds in our poorest areas, and new employment related courses for 14-19-year-olds.

On Transport and the Environment, the Ebbw Vale Rail link demonstrates Labour's commitment to sustainable transport and delivering better links to our communities.

This will also contribute to cuts in carbon emissions, which is why Labour also supports active consideration of projects like the Severn Barrage.

Only Labour can build a better Wales.
