POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked on Sparrowmire Lane, in Kendal.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said a 23-year-old woman was attacked by a man between 1.20am and 1.30am this morning (Saturday).
Police described the man as being in his 30s, of stocky build and balding with fair skin. He was believed to be wearing dark clothing at the time.
The victim, was described as 5' 8" tall, with dark shoulder length hair and was wearing a black jacket and trousers.
"The man made off from the scene towards Burneside Road as a taxi approached," said the police spokesman.
"The victim was left with minor injuries."
