NESTON and Parkgate's mosquitoes will be under intensive scrutiny this summer with 12 traps being set to monitor their marshland activity.
The extra traps, three times as many than last year, will be checked by officers from Ellesmere Port and Neston council and biology students from Neston High School, who will have the opportunity to hear council officers and an expert from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine speak about mosquitoes as part of a presentation at their school this week.
It is part of a project between the council's environmental protection unit, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Leahurst Veterinary training faculty and Neston High School.
Emma Glasson, from Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council's environmental protection unit, said: "With three times the number of traps deployed this year we're looking forward to some really good results which will give us an extensive picture of the level of marsh mosquitoes, other species of mosquitoes and biting insects."
