Not inclined to dwell on what might have been Crymych officials, players and supporters were understandably optimistic over the future after the Preselimen brought down the curtain on their Division 4 West campaign with five wins on the bounce.
The latest success elevated Gareth Davies and Co into third behind champions Llanybydder and promoted Cardigan, and it is generally accepted that but for earlier inconsistencies the north Pembrokeshire villagers would be hosting Division 3 West clubs next time around.
After a 21-0 win over Pembroke secretary Gordon Eynon said "It has been largely a season of development for our young side, and we are hoping to build on this next time."
Fullback Carwyn Jones went over for a try to put the homesters ahead, winger Aled Bowen doubled the try count and centre Mathew Hill got a third touchdown, all three scores converted by Jones Having clinched promotion to Division 3 West seven days earlier Cardigan made sweeping changes for the visit to Llandeilo, and emerged 27-10 winners.
The Cardis notched tries through prop Richard Jones, winger Rhydian Jenkins and scrum-half and man-of-the-match Dylan Rees, with the remainder of the points coming from the boot of fullback Kevin Evans.
