I WAS planning to go to the New Theatre with my daughter, recently, to see Status Quo. She rang me from London to say she had heard the concert was cancelled and could I ring the box office to confirm.

However, all I could get was ‘number not available’.

Surely it should have said ‘Status Quo concert cancelled’?

I rang Radio Oxford who did confirm and had the initiative to broadcast that fact, bearing in mind the Christmas lights were being turned on, which obviously would cause traffic problems.

I wonder how many people had a miserable wasted journey?
