BOXING: Banbury grab three victories

The Banbury gym had a highly-successful excursion to Adams Park in High Wycombe, with all three of their boxers having their arms raised in triumph.

Ayaz Mohammed proved too slick on the counter as he mesmerised Slough's Sean Richardson to claim all three rounds and a comprehensive points victory.

Immy Khandoker displayed the greater accuracy and more fluent punching throughout the bout to get a split verdict over Luton Farley's Zak Hussaine.

And Simeon Barker's greater variety, especially during the early stages, proved enough to claim a unanimous win over Luton Shamrock's Joe Lydon.

Lloyd Hancock, from the Windrush Valley gym in Carterton, was in devastating form during his encounter with Jamie Reilly.

Two unanswered flurries, both concluding with big right hands, prompted standing counts before referee Jack Wilson rescued his Luton Shamrock rival as the second round drew to a close.

Blackbird Leys middleweight Max Clark saw his night's work finish early. It had proved to be a close encounter with Adel Badawy, but the Hayes boxer was forced to retire with a dislocated thumb inside a round.

Angus Lowe, from the same East Oxford outfit, proved he has a durable chin, but could not march the pace and precision of Luton Farley rival Kieran McLaughlin, who claimed the votes of all three judges.

There were also contrasting fortunes for the Thame duo in action.

Brendan Buckland made full use of his height advantage to impose his authority over Chalfont's Jazz Burridge from the opening stages.

Getting behind the jab, he launched neat clusters to head and body to reap a comprehensive decision.

But Luke Johnson lost his composure during his clash with Ryan Edmunds, of the host Marlow gym, and was retired by his corner a minute before the end.
