THERE could hardly be more at stake when Aston Rowant host Thame Town in tomorrow’s Division 2 West final day derby.

Title-chasing Rowant lie six points behind leaders Slough, who remain firmly in their sights, while Thame are on the brink of relegation and must win to have any real hope of staying up.

Rowant captain Wesley Morrick said his side were ready to pounce should they get a chance to topple Slough.

“If you look at the league table, Slough are the form side,” said Morrick.

“If they win at Gerrards Cross, then fair play to them because the pressure is really on them.

“If they mess up, then we’ll be there to take advantage.

“We have got no pressure on ourselves. We can just go out there and enjoy it.”

He added: “Thame need to win as well, so it should be a great game.

Richard Cook replaces Dan Matthews as the only change for Rowant, who are also in the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup final on Sunday.

For Thame, Sam Lachlan comes in for Jesol Rathod.

And skipper Mike Higgs is urging his players to repeat last season’s final day escape.

Thame must beat Rowant and rely on Farnham Royal and Shipton-under-Wychwood failing to pick up sufficient points from their matches.

“We have got to win and just hope that things go our way elsewhere like they did last year,” said Higgs. “It is very much the same scenario.”

Higgs added: “I will just focus on trying to win, but I am sure a few of the lads will be checking Twitter and things like that for other scores.”

Shipton , who are in an almost identical position to Thame, have named an unchanged side.

Captain Simon Hole said: “We have just got to worry about what we can do.

“We started the season very well and have been playing well for the last few weeks, but it was just the middle that cost us.”
