OXFORDSHIRE made it two wins from two in the ECB Women’s County Championship after beating Wiltshire and the wet weather at Bicester & North Oxford.
Their eight-wicket victory on Sunday puts Oxon top of Division 4 South & West just when they feared another washout.
Manager Denise Todd said: “Due to the extreme hardwork of Graham Savin preparing the ground, just when we thought it would not be feasible to play any cricket yet again due to more rain, we actually played and were triumphant.”
With captain Vicky Strode sidelined by illness, Oxon were skippered by Gemma Muttit, who inserted Wilts after winning the toss.
Former Australian international Lisa Keightly, who is Wiltshire’s head of women and girls development, top-scored with 59 in their 121 all out.
The turning point in their innings came when Keightly was stumped smartly by Abi Currie off medium-pacer Caitie Burton.
Seamer Carla Wood (2-8) and leg-spinner Ellie Porter (3-24) proved the pick of Oxon’s bowlers.
Currie (41no) and Genny Porter (37no) then starred with the bat as the hosts reached 122-2 inside 30 overs.
Oxon will look to maintain their 100 per cent record away to Cornwall on Sunday in St Austell.
