LEGENDARY West Indies pacemen Courtney Walsh has been added to the Lashings World XI to play at Magdalen College School, Oxford on Sunday.

Walsh, who picked up a then world record 519 Test wickets, will appear alongside fellow West Indian Gordon Greenidge in a side captained by MCS cricket professional and former England seamer Phil DeFreitas.

Other stars include Devon Malcolm, Saqlain Mushtaq and Henry Olonga.

Lashings will take on the school’s first team and a select XI, captained by John Crawley, in two Twenty20 matches, starting at 10.30am and 3.30pm.

Crawley, who is MCS’s head of cricket and a teacher at the school, has selected a host of former pupils plus his predecessor and ex-Oxfordshire player Richard Gilbert.

All proceeds from the auction and raffle will be donated to Helen and Douglas House, the Oxford-based charity supporting young people with life-shortening conditions.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children. Contact lashings@mcsoxford.org or telephone 01865 242191.
