Tiddington CC coach Alan Maule has been recognised for his outstanding services to grassroots cricket.

Maule, from Thame, was presented with a special coaching certificate by former England captain Nasser Hussain during the Third Investec Test against West Indies at Edgbaston as part of the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education initiative.

He was among 13 coaches, who met Hussain during a very wet lunch in the Indoor Cricket School on Friday, all of whom were being acknowledged by the initiative’s ‘Reward and Recognition’ scheme.

Maule coaches teams between the ages of nine and 16 at Tiddington CC as well as the South Oxfordshire District Development group at under 11, under 13 and under 15 age groups.

He said: “Kids are now playing more cricket simply because the coaching is so good.

“Getting recognition on a day like today for the work we do feels really fantastic – even if it is pouring down with rain.”
