CRICKET: Nondies win at last


MP Sports Cherwell League - Division 5

Andy Haynes took 5-55 to set up relegated Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd’s first win of the season.

He was the only bowler to take a wicket in Banbury 3rd’s 194-5, during which Adam Worth compiled 102 not out and Andrew Proctor 50.

Steve Jennings then hit 77 as Nondies reached 198-5, al-though they still finish well adrift at the bottom.

Josh Garrett bagged 5-23 from nine overs and Michael Darby took 3-8 from 7.3 as champions Great & Little Tew 2nd beat Tiddington.

The visitors were bowled out for 116 in reply to Tew’s 208, thanks in part to Kevin Taylor’s 43.

Runners-up Shipton-un-der-Wychwood 2nd were deprived a win by Bledlow Ridge 2nd’s last pair.

Shipton scored 261-8, built around Andy Thompson’s 62 and Tom King’s 49.

Ridge were never in the hunt against Ross Barrett (4-36), clinging on at 173-9.

Didcot’s suffered a bruising defeat at lowly Brackley.

The home side cobbled together 174-8, with David Barnes (49) and Michael Cartwright (38no) to the fore.

Jordan Morrison took 4-50 for Didcot, who then collapsed to 133 all out against Keith Cartwright (5-32).

Stephen Beard (66) and David Brooks (43) gave Thame Town 2nd a great start against Challow 2nd, before Gary Porter’s quickfire 45 took them to 231-5.

Luke Jones (46) gave Challow hope, but Ian McStay finished with 6-30 as the visitors were all out for 145.
