CRICKET: Jacob stars for rampant Tetsworth


OCA League Divisions 1-3

CLIFFORD Jacob slammed a magnificent 160 as Tetsworth crushed basement boys Freeland by 100 runs in Division 1 on Saturday.

Jacob dominated the Freeland attack as Tetsworth rattled up 290 all out.

Freeland’s Max Godwin scored 80 not out in reply, but they finished well short at 190-6.

Shrivenham kept up the pressure, beating Horley by 28 runs.

Having posted 189-9, Shrivenham dismissed Horley for 161, Conor Taylor and Will Snell taking three wickets apiece.

East Oxford cruised to an eight-wicket win over Great Horwood.

Mohammed Sarfraz took 4-28 and Ali Malik 3-32 as Horwood were shot out for 90, then Javeed Faruq hit 61 as East Oxford reached 92-2.

Marcham cruised to a six-wicket win over Garsington.

Jim McGeown claimed 4-36 as Garsington were bowled out for 181, before Dave Prosper (49), Ryan Mills (45) and Nick Giles (42) saw Marcham to victory.

In Division 2, Andy Crawford and Nathan Harris shared a club record opening stand of 202 as Minster Lovell thrashed Ox-ford Caribbean by 185 runs.

Crawford slammed a superb 118 and Harris 70 as Minster rattled up 282-5.

Caribbean slumped to 97 all out as Chris Morgan took 4-40.

Charlbury maintained their title challenge with a seven-run win over Hook Norton.

Chris Morgan (63) and Craig McCallum (36) helped Charlbury to 204-9, before Bimalka Liyanarachchi took 4-37 and McCallum 4-43 as Hooky fell just short on 197 all out.

Letcombe’s Pat Bryan scored 130 not out to help his side to a 31-run win at Watlington.

Letcombe scored 228-2, then restricted the hosts to 197-9 as Adam Shorten took 4-52.

Faringdon beat Witney Swifts by 57 runs.

Having posted 172-9, Faringdon dismissed their visitors for 115 as Andy McDowall took 4-37.

Youngster Robbie Nicholson hit an unbeaten century for Combe as they beat East Oxford 2nd by 48 runs in Division 3.

Nicholson scored 154 not out and Chris Moore 59 as Combe rattled up 272-7.

Shoaib Ahmed (70no) and Amir Faruq (63) shone in East Oxford’s reply, but 6-20 from Tom Kellie ensured Combe’s victory as East Oxford were all out for 224.

East & West Hendred stayed clear on top as they edged to a two-wicket victory against Westcott.

Chasing Westcott’s total of 190-8, in which Pete Smith scored 74, Hendred sneaked home at 191-8, Mark Baring top-scoring with 40.

Stonesfield’s Tim Wyatt helped himself to another century as his side beat Fringford by 90 runs.

Wyatt was unbeaten on 129 as Stonesfield rattled up 253-3.

Adam Fleetwood then claimed 4-50 as Fringford fell to 163 all out.
