CRICKET: Cropredy's title bid takes a knock

Cropredy's title hopes suffered a setback as they went down by 78 runs at home to Buckingham 2nd in Division 4 of the MP Sports Cherwell League.

Mike Taylor and Jonny Cater both made half-centuries in Buckingham’s 200-9.

Cropredy were never in with a shout as they crashed to 122 all out and they are now level on points at the top with Stokenchurch.

Cropredy 5pts, Buckingham 2nd 25.

A superb 122 by Arshad Latif was the backbone behind Stokenchurch’s total of 238 against Chearsley.

Ken Baker was the pick of the bowlers with 4-47.

In reply, Chearsley were dismissed for 113 which condemned them to a 125-run defeat.

Chearsley 6, Stokenchurch 25.

Bicester & North Oxford consolidated their mid-table position with a 32-run success away to Leighton Buzzard 2nd.

Batting first, Bicester declared at 204-8 off 50 overs as Rob Humphreys led the way with 89.

Adam Culley returned 4-58 for Leighton Buzzard who made a good fist of their reply, led by Tim O’Leary (57).

However, they were eventually undone by Richard Simpson, whose figures of 6-57 proved decisive.

L Buzzard 2nd 6, Bicester & NO 25.

Trevor Spindler added five more victims to his ever increasing tally, but it couldn’t help Wallingford to victory against Cumnor 2nd.

Spindler took 5-45 in Cumnor’s 211, Mark Kirsten top-scoring with 68, but Wallingford then fell to 126 all out and an 85-run defeat.

Cumnor 2nd 25, Wallingford 6.

Bottom-of-the-table Banbury Twenty 2nd, with just 36 points all season, forfeited their game with Kimble.

Kimble 25, Banbury XX 2nd 0.

Mike Taylor and Jonny Cater both made half-centuries in Buckingham’s 200-9.

The boy Cater has had a hell of a fall. Last month he was the counties bright hope(200 for development). Now, Buckingham 2nds!!!

Trevor's secret formula, bowl as many overs as possible, bowl little in and outswingers, appeal around 5 times every over, occasionally roll around on the floor and have a tantrum, eventually even the so called neutral umpires give him a few. Why batsmen don't use their feet and smash him around the ground is one of life's little mysteries :-)

Two things here boys and girls, Trevor gets his wickets by bowling twice as many overs as anyone else, even his own players moan about him bowling so many overs, and Wallingford isn't exactly a road!
secondly Banbury Twenty 2nd's no team put out what's that all about?

Good luck Wallingford when old Trev's body decides it can't take anymore bowling! Hardly a young side and unless he's passed on his secret formula, they'll be left needing to find another 25 overs from somewhere!

Banburry 20 have been poor all year, I think they were bowled out for under 40 in a game and have barely made a 100 all year. All not putting out a side did was speed up the opposition getting 25 points.

Banbury 20 are a club in decline, they badly need to get some players from somewhere.
They are relying on the likes of Thomas and Arnold, rather like Wallingford with Trev, he's over 60, can't they find younger alternatives?
