CRICKET: Magic Magee slams classy century


OCA League Divisions 5-11

Freddie Magee smashed a brilliant 138 to help Chadlington to a crushing 218-run victory over Great Horwood 2nd in Division 5.

Magee’s knock, plus 68 from Richard Ingram, helped Chadlington to a massive 312-6, before Martin Shepherd took 5-10 and James Kelly 3-36 as Horwood were skittled for 94.

Tim Trudigan hit a century as West Witney kept up the pressure on Chadlington with a 19-run victory over Wootton & Boars Hill.

Trudigan hit 106 in West Witney’s 206 all out, before Wootton were restricted to 187-7.

Ian Holton shone with bat and ball to help Cassington to a 49-run victory over bottom club Chalgrove.

Holton hit 60 in Cassington’s 132 all out, then took 5-46 as Chalgrove were shot out for 83.

In Division 6, Cairns Fudge suffered a three-wicket defeat against Tetsworth 2nd.

Ian Francis hit 63 as The Fudge rattled up 202 all out, but Tetsworth reached 203-7, thanks to 49 from Hamed Abdul and 33 not out from Ben Curtis.

Adrian Redhead hit 82 as Dorchester edged past Freeland 2nd by two runs.

Dorchester were dismissed for 133, Kevin Hole taking 4-21.

Jack Stimpson then claimed 4-28 as Freeland fell just short on 131.

Leaders Chipping Norton defeated Stanton Harcourt by four wickets.

Kristofer Clark took 7-25, but finished on the losing side as Steventon beat Eynsham 2nd by 77 runs in Division 7.

Clark’s haul saw Steventon dismissed for 125, but Eynsham then crashed to 48 all out, Tom Cannon taking 5-12.

Garsington 2nd stayed clear at the top with a five-wicket win over West Ilsley 2nd.

Arshad Mehmood took 4-24 and Clive Brown 4-36 as West Ilsley were dismissed for 112, then Mehmood hit 30 not out to steer Garsington home.

Stonesfield 2nd defeated Westbury 2nd by eight wickets.

Robin Hanks (4-24) and Dave Skidmore (3-45) combined as Westbury were rolled over for 99.

Mark Hatton hit 60 not out as Stonesfield reached 101-2.

In Division 8, Kilkenny maintained their unbeaten record as they beat Chadlington 2nd by 59 runs.

Duncan Macdonald hit 46 in Kilkenny’s 160 all out, then Grayson Fisher claimed 3-30 as Chadlington fell to 101 all out.

Zulfiqar Nasib smashed a magnificent 162 as East Oxford 3rd thrashed Marcham 2nd by 257 runs in Division 8.

East Oxford rattled up a huge 337-8, Sagarkumar Patel hitting 84 and Duncan Reeve bucking the trend for Marcham’s bowling with 6-37.

Marcham crashed to 80 all out, with Riswaan Abbasi taking 7-20.
