CRICKET: Charlie's knock is all in vain


Charlie Scott-Kerr top-scored with 49, but it was not enough as Oxfordshire Under 11s lost by eight wickets in Devon.

Inserted on a green and damp wicket, Oxon got off to a bad start and quickly found themselves 12-3.

Wickets continued to fall and at 53-5, Oxon were up against it.

But a 50-run stand between Scott-Kerr and Daniel Patey took the score to 103-6, and, with Patey finishing unbeaten on 22, Oxon closed on 133-9.

With the wicket drying, Devon made batting look easy as they reached the total in the 24th over.

Only Graham Beer and John Francis claimed wickets.

  • OXON Under 12s were given a batting lesson as they lost by 117 runs against Bucks at Stonesfield.

The visitors posted an impressive 233-5, with Lee Tyrell blasting 82 in 53 balls.

Oxon’s lack of confidence showed as they slumped to 25-7.

Louis Pennington and Callum Russell shared a 62-run partnership to get the score up past 100 before Oxon were bowled out for just 116.
