CRICKET: Freeland miss out

A RESOUNDING win by Freeland in their rescheduled game with Banbury was not quite enough to secure top spot in Group A of the Oxfordshire Girls Senior League.

Freeland rattled up 107-5 in their 20 overs, before bowling Banbury out for just 49.

Oxford reached the final, despite an eight-wicket defeat against Banbury.

Emilia Bartram (26no) and Katie Isle (25) saw Oxford to 100-6, but 25 not out from Rose Beck steered Banbury home.

Oxford will face Group B winners Aston Rowant in the final.

• THE junior girls’ competition final takes place on Tuesday at Charlbury between Banbury and either Oxford Downs or Shipton.
