CRICKET: Delroy is star for Tetsworth


The OCA Division 1 title race is set to go down to the wire, with Westbury and Tetsworth vying for the crown.

While Westbury were handed maximum points courtesy of a concession by Letcombe, Tetsworth cruised to a ten-wicket victory at Marcham.

Batting first, Marcham were bowled out for 165, Tristan Barrett scoring 64 not out.

For once, Hyron Shallow was outshone by his teammate, as Delroy Cyrus smashed 114 not out as Tetsworth eased to 166-0, Shallow finishing unbeaten on a more sedate 36.

Minster Lovell are deep in relegation danger after an eight-wicket defeat at home to Horley.

They were shot out for just 109, Jon Hart taking 5-38.

Nick Tarrant then scored 72 not out to steer Horley to a comfortable win.

East Oxford were crowned Division 2 champions with an eight-wicket win at home to Faringdon.

Tauqeer Hussain was chief destroyer (5-16) in Faringdon's 125 all out, before Khurram Shaheen hit 78 in East Oxford's 126-2.

Freeland all but clinched the second promotion spot with a three-wicket win at home to Kings Sutton.

Billy Webb and Andy Warren took three wickets apiece in Kings Sutton's 138 all out, before Freeland got home at 140-7.

Basement boys Eynsham lost by nine wickets against East & West Hendred, while Watlington still have it all to do to stay up after they lost by four wickets to Hook Norton 2nd.

Fringford are virtually assured of the Division 3 title after beating Uffington by seven wickets.

Uffington were shot out for 52, John Bacon taking 4-18. Dave Macdonald then scored 43 not out as Fringford eased home.

Witney Swifts are still second after a nine-wicket win at Stonesfield.

After restricting their hosts to 155-7, young Charlie Fisher dominated the bowling with an unbeaten 89 as Swifts cruised in.

Broughton & North Newington saw off Radley by 14 runs, while Russell Jeffries scored 99 to help West Ilsley to a thrilling one-wicket win at Clifton Hampden.

Westcott boosted their Division 4 title hopes with an 18-run win at home to Britwell Salome.

Oxenford are just three points behind, despite losing by five runs against Combe.

The visitors scored 144, a total which included 12 penalty runs due to Oxenford's slow over rate. Oxenford fell just short at 139-7.

Minster Lovell 2nd went top of Division 5 and look set to pip Chadlington to the title after a one-wicket victory.

Batting first, Chadlington were bowled out for 103.

Minster sneaked in at 107-9, with third-team player Steve Smith hitting the winning runs.

In Division 6, Chesterton's game against Hanney was played in the delightful setting of Wormsley on the same pitch used a week earlier for the South Africa v PCA Masters match.

But Chesterton's batsmen did not make good use of the batting track as they fell to 131 all out.

Hanney slumped to 17-3, before recovering to 79-3 and then falling to 98 all out.

Horley 2nd stayed top with a 68-run win over Eynsham 2nd.

Richard Hart hit 91 and Andrew Parker 52 in Horley's 196-5.

Parker was the Horley hero with the ball, taking 6-23 as Eynsham fell to 128 all out.

Chipping Norton wrapped up the Division 7 title in style as they thrashed Risinghurst by 137 runs.

Ducklington secured the second promotion spot with a three-wicket win at Kings Sutton 2nd.

The home side were dismissed for 79, Ian Luckett taking 5-17. Ducklington struggled in their reply, but reached the target with seven wickets down.

There was a remarkable bowling performance by Westbury 2nd's Neil Wilk- ins in their Division 8 clash with Kilkenny.

Wilkins bowled 12 overs with 11 maidens, taking 5-3 in Kilkenny's 79 all out. Earlier, Westbury had stumbled to 83 all out, but it proved enough for a four-run win!

In Division 10, Oxenford 2nd secured the title with a six-wicket win over Hanney 2nd.

Ken Owen took 6-44 as Hanney fell to 134, before Paul Merry scored 70 not out .

Faringdon 2nd finished second with a 90-run win over Westcott 2nd.
