JOE Moore is targeting success both in the short and long-term after he was revealed as Oxford United’s new first team coach analyst.

The U’s had been without a permanent first team analyst since James Krause left for Bristol City, alongside former head coach Liam Manning, in November.

Moore has been supporting Isaac Alder in an unofficial capacity for a number of weeks, while he worked his notice period at Arsenal Women.

That has now been completed though, with Moore now officially a member of the United backroom staff.

He told the club’s YouTube channel: “It’s been a long time coming and well-documented that it’s been a period for me where I’ve had to work through my notice, but it’s good to be finally in the building.

“We’ve got seven big games to end the season, and it’s good to be here. I’m looking forward to getting on with it.”

Former analyst Krause performed a mixed role working as a first team coach too, something Moore will also do with the U’s.

He said: “For me, it’s about giving the head coach and support coaches the information they need to go and be successful.

“We work now in an industry that’s changed a lot, and there’s a lot of information that you get when you’re analysing games and training, whether that be through video or through data.

“It’s about being really concise and clear, and giving the information to the coaches, that they will hopefully need to go and impact performance.

“The reality with these roles is we’re trying to build frameworks and process for the coaches in particular, that allow us to monitor and improve our performance over a prolonged period of time.

“Coming into a role like this, and with there only being seven games left of the season, you’re looking to give the gaffer the information he needs, and the players what they need, to go and be successful on the pitch.

“A wider part of that role will hopefully be laying the foundations at the football club, that will allow us to be successful in the long-term, and not just in the short-term this season.”

Moore previously worked with United head coach Des Buckingham when the former was head of performance analysis at New Zealand Football.

He said: “When the gaffer got the job in November, he gave me a call to see if I’d be interested, and it’s something that I’ve been really wanting to do.

“We worked together before and had a good working relationship, and a good understanding of what each other wants when we worked together at the New Zealand set-up. He was a big factor in me coming to the position here.”
