ANUPAM Sanklecha has recalled veteran spinner Shaun Miller for Shipton-under-Wychwood’s Division 2 encounter at home to Chesham.

The west Oxfordshire side slipped to an eight-wicket defeat at Buckingham Town on the opening day of the Home Counties Premier League season last weekend.

Miller had chosen to move down to the 2nd XI and took 2-11 from 8.2 overs in the Cherwell League six days ago.

But captain Sanklecha, who also brings Tim Senior into the squad, has persuaded the bowler to step back up to the first team.

He said: “It’s a one-day format and we need five bowlers.

“I asked him if he would come back into the first team and he said ‘yes’.”

Sanklecha added: “The track was a bit damp last week, it was a bad toss to lose and it helped their bowlers.

“We struggled after losing a few wickets early and it was difficult to come back.

“We need to learn from the last game, we need to apply ourselves in the batting, and play all the overs to get a decent total.”

Great & Little Tew are eyeing back-to-back wins when they travel to Harefield.

Harry Smith’s side recovered from 25-5 to beat Burnham by 24 runs last week.

The Tew captain heads into tomorrow’s clash in high spirits.

He said: “It was brilliant.

“We’re pretty confident after last week and we’ve probably got our full-strength side out.”

Tom Price and Ian Bryan replace James Churchill and Tom Young.
