THEO Brophy-Clews could once again miss out on rugby’s World U20 Championship final after being forced off during England’s thrilling 24-22 win over South Africa.

The former Abingdon School pupil, from Wallingford, started the semi-final at inside centre, but suffered an injury and was substituted after 38 minutes at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Holders England had trailed by five points with four minutes remaining, but a late converted try saw them reach Sunday’s final, where they will face either New Zealand or France.

Brophy-Clews missed out on last year’s success after sustaining a foot injury in the opening pool game.
