SECOND-PLACED Chinnor have bulked up their pack as they bid to avenge an early season defeat to Canterbury when the sides meet tomorrow.

The Kent-based side ended the National League 2 South high-fliers’s ten-match winning start to the campaign in November.

That defeat has not been forgotten and Matt Williams has opted to add extra weight in the forwards to deal with Canterbury’s pack at Kingsey Road.

With Nathan Hannay unavailable, Tom Burns starts at lock despite Ben Manning’s fine performance during last week’s win over Old Elthamians.

Director of rugby Williams said: “The hardest call was putting Manning on the bench.

“But Canterbury have a big, strong pack and with Hannay being away we need to go as heavy as possible.”

He added: “We owe them one, because they were the first team to beat us and the motivation this week is not promotion, not keeping the pressure on (leaders) Bishop’s Stortford, it’s about Canterbury.”

Winger Luke Hibberd returns from a hamstring injury and Ali Bone starts at No 8.

In-form Henley Hawks could do their Oxfordshire counterparts a favour as they host Bishop’s Stortford at Dry Leas.

The Hertfordshire side are five points clear at the top and on a seven-match winning run.

But Hawks are on a high after three straight victories and hand a start to winger Harry Burn, who impressed off the bench last week.

In the pack, hooker Tom Emery comes in.

Witney welcome back fly half George Lewis for their home clash with Swindon in South West 1 East.

Jake Edwards makes his debut at hooker.

Oxford Harlequins bid to do the double over Grove when the sides meet at Cane Lane.

Ramez Farahani, Chris Davies and Matt Edney start in the front row for Quins, while Pete Boulton switches to lock.

Noel O’Brian and Ollie Jenner form a new half-back pairing, with Jack Avery coming in at full back.

Banbury host Reading Abbey.
