MATT Williams is calling on Chinnor to build up a head of steam as the National League 2 South promotion race continues to hot up.

Nine points separate the top five and the Kingsey Road-based club earned a nail-biting 17-15 win over Barnstaple last week to stay third.

Williams said the victory “could prove to be a key moment” after an inconsistent last couple of months.

Chinnor are still unbeaten at home and the director of rugby is looking for his side to build on a first away victory since October when they take on Redingensians tomorrow.

He said: “We’ve got five teams vying for two spots.

“Promotion will be decided by the sides that can string a run of form together as quickly as possible.

“But it’s a strange league at the moment, everyone is beating everyone.”

Winger Oscar Heath starts for the first time this season after needing surgery on a dislocated shoulder.

Flanker Richard Thorpe has had his red card rescinded from last weekend, but is only named among the replacements, with Ben Manning taking his place.

Luke Hibberd switches to the left wing, Bevon Armitage returns at inside centre, while prop Ricky Cano comes back in at loose-head.

Centre Charles Broughton is on the bench after signing from Richmond.

Henley Hawks bid to move away from the relegation zone when they take on Barnes at Dry Leas.

Loose-head Bradley Cook and hooker Stuart Philpott join tight-head Dave Manning to form an all RAF front row.

David Hyde moves to lock and Marcus Lowe starts at No 8.

In the backs, James Comben comes in at fly half.

Grove host Oxfordshire rivals Witney in South West 1 East, bidding to arrest a winless run of three games.

A place and six points separate the sides in the table and Neil Hunter’s men will be hoping for a repeat of their 24-18 win in October.

Oxford Harlequins look to avenge a 77-0 defeat to Royal Wootton Bassett earlier this season when the sides meet at Marston Ferry Road.

Matt Edney switches to loose-head, George Tierney takes over at hooker, while Adam Neal moves to lock and Angus Milton starts at flanker.

Guy Fairburn and Sam Watkinson form a new half-back pairing, with Huw Dimond going to centre.

Fourth-placed Banbury bid to stretch their unbeaten run to nine games when they travel to Newbury Blues.
