BANBURY CC have been asked by the Minor Counties Cricket Association if they would be willing to stage their two finals next year.

The four-day Unicorns Championship and one-day Knock-Out deciders have been held at Wormsley in recent years.

But there is now some doubt as to whether Wormsley will be in a position to stage these games in 2017.

“We are flattered to have been asked and are certainly interested in staging one or both finals, whatever the Minor Counties want,” said Banbury chairman Martin Phillips.

“Nothing has been confirmed yet, but we feel its a feather in our cap.

“We hosted the Minor Counties T20 finals a couple of years ago and obviously they felt we did a good job.”
