NIC Roberts-Huntley is calling on Oxford University to be prepared for any situation ahead of next month's Varsity Match.

The Dark Blues face Cambridge University at Twickenham on December 8, bidding for a seventh successive win.

Oxford enjoyed a moral-boosting 39-5 victory over a Major Stanley's XV at a rain-soaked Iffley Road yesterday.

But a number of handling errors were made in the wet conditions, while both sides resorted to kicking out of hand regularly.

Second row Roberts-Huntley says the Dark Blues need to be better if the weather is similar in three weeks time.

The 26-year-old said: "Conditions dictate a certain style of rugby and error rate is always a little bit higher when it is greasy.

"But we have got three weeks now until the big day, so it is not really an excuse.

"There is no reason why it can't be pouring with rain at Twickenham."

Roberts-Huntley, who is studying an MBA at Green Templeton College, returned to the squad yesterday for the first time since the end of October due to concussion.

The former Blundell's School pupil had to rest for at least 19 days, but was pleased to get 40 minutes under his belt.

He said: "It's nice after concussion to blow off some cobwebs.

"There was one terrible offload from me, but otherwise I don't think it was too disastrous."

Roberts-Huntley, who is a trained doctor, added: "It's always frustrating, especially with concussion protocol, you are not allowed to exercise and things like that.

"There is quite a bit to take on board and try and keep yourself in shape, so you are ready to play when you get the chance.

"Competition for places is pretty high, so you have got to try and turn it on when you can without doing too much."
