OXFORD City fell to their first pre-season defeat in going down 3-1 at Brackley Town on Saturday.

City took a 1-0 lead into the break after Tom Winters, returning to his old club, picked out new boy Louis Soares to nod home.

But the hosts struck back after the interval.

Teenage goalkeeper Jack Stevens, 18, who is on trial from neighbours Oxford United with a view to a loan, was beaten by a fantastic solo effort from substitute David Pitt shortly after the restart.

Luke Graham then headed Brackley in front, before Pitt broke free to score his second and seal victory for Brackley.

Felipe Barcelos hit a first-half hat-trick as Banbury United thumped visitors Wellingborough Town 8-0 in their final friendly.

Ricky Johnson also notched twice as the Puritans raced to a five-goal lead before the break, with Mark Janes bagging two of his own in the second half either side of a Leam Howards effort.

Didcot Town took home the Dale Roberts Memorial Cup after beating AFC Rushden & Diamonds 1-0.

The Railwaymen were the first senior side invited to compete for the trophy.

It has previously been contested by under 18 sides as a fundraiser for the Dale Roberts Memorial Fund, set up in memory of the former Rushden goalkeeper who tragically took his own life in 2010.

Didcot handed a debut to new striker Ben Whitehead, who joined the club from Chippenham Town after the departure of last season’s top-scorer Mark Janes.

But it was defender Sam Barder who made the crucial contribution, with his strike in the sixth minute of the second half proving the only goal of the game as the Railwaymen claimed the silverware.

Eric Odhiambo struck twice for new club North Leigh as they triumphed 2-1 at home to Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 Central opponents Barton Rovers.

Kidlington won 4-2 at home Headington Amateurs, courtesy of goals from Lewis Coyle, Callum Harvey, Louis Joyce and Kristian Thomas.

Wantage Town were beaten 2-0 at home to Wessex League Premier Division side Blackfield & Langley.

Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Ardley United went down to a heavy 7-3 defeat at home to Bedford Town.

United trailed 4-0 to goals from Phil Draycott (2), Lee Hawkes and George Boland, before finally registering themselves through Elias Katsoloudi.

Josh Bamford and Dominic Morgan-Griffiths netted for the visitors either side of a headed goal from Matt Cruse for Ardley.

But the hosts did have the final say as Katsoloudi notched a second.
