ELLIE Noble hopes her first senior goal will be one of many as Oxford United Women turned on the style to beat London Bees 4-2 in front of a bumper crowd.

Top-scorer Ini Umotong scored twice in the FA Women’s Super League 2 clash, taking her tally for the season to 12.

And Lauren Allison also netted at Northcourt Road as United impressed a record crowd of 1,211, which included men’s head coach Michael Appleton, on the club’s annual family fun day.

Noble headed home their second goal of the game and hopes the positive result, which ended a run of three league defeats, will give them a welcome boost for the last five games.

She said: “I’ve scored quite a few at under-17 level, but that’s a bit different.

“It’s a lot harder at this level, but hopefully I can provide a couple of goals for the team.”

Noble added: “It did make me a bit nervous when I saw the size of the crowd at first, but once I had a few touches on the ball I felt a lot better.

“When you really get playing you don’t take any notice and it’s no different from playing with no one there.

“If we can continue this and play well at home especially I think we can push on and get some more results like this.”

United took the lead after 30 minutes when Rosie Lane’s cross was glanced into the far corner by Umotong.

Bees equalised when Eva Popadinova’s effort crept past Oxford goalkeeper Demi Lambourne, but they were level for just a minute.

The hosts restored their advantage immediately through Noble, who arrowed a low strike into the bottom corner.

Allison got on the scoresheet two minutes later, latching onto Ella Franklin-Fraiture’s through ball before poking home.

Popadinova reduced the arrears after the break, seizing on a backpass, before going past Lambourne and rolling the ball into the empty net.

But Umotong struck again on 61 minutes, rounding the goalkeeper and tapping home to seal victory.
