GREAT & Little Tew produced a brilliant run chase to beat Harefield by six wickets in Division 1.

The hosts elected to bat, posting 251-9 from 64 overs in the Home Counties Premier League clash.

But Tew raced to the total within 44 overs, Dain Moreton starring with 87 off 95 balls.

Harefield put themselves in a strong position, thanks to the efforts of Daniel Ogden (66), Scott Friend (45) and Jalpesh Vijay (42).

Ogden and Friend combined for a second-wicket partnership of 64, before the former, and Vijay added 55 to steer the hosts to 155-2.

After Vijay was dismissed, Ian Bryan (4-79) removed Oliver Richards, while Ogden fell to leave them on 174-5.

George Shiel (36) and Dhavalkumar Norotam got the hosts back on course, but the tail fell away as they ended on 251-9.

Tew never looking in any trouble in reply, with Moreton and Jordan Garrett (77) putting on 96 for the second wicket to steer them to 144-1.

After Garrett fell, Moreton combined with Curtly Slatter (50no) for a 78-run partnership to further strengthen their position.

Moreton was dismissed with Tew on 234-4, but Slatter and Ashley Hubbert scored the winning runs.

Title-chasing Banbury fell to an 18-run defeat at home to High Wycombe.

Garth Davson top-scored with 65 as the visitors posted 167, Luke Ryan claiming 4-12 as he mopped up the tail.

Banbury got off to a poor start, falling to 6-3 and then 56-5, despite the efforts of Lloyd Sabin (51) and Ryan.

At 115-8 it looked as though they had too much work to do – and it proved the case.
