GREAT & Little Tew suffered a heavy 107-run defeat at the hands of high-flying High Wycombe in Division 1.

George Russell top-scored with 72 as the hosts reached 208-9 in their 59 overs, despite Tew’s Joe Thomas taking 5-46.

But in reply, the visitors were dismissed for just 101 in 24.5 overs.

Tew won the toss and elected to field, but were unable to take an early wicket.

Openers Gavin Baker and Garth Davson put on 76, before both fell in quick succession as the match then swung Tew’s way.

Thomas, captain Andy Harris (3-67) and Lloyd Brock helped restrict Wycombe to 102-6.

But Russell went on to frustrate Tew, particularly in a ninth-wicket partnership of 63 with Jonathan Burden, to steer the hosts to 208-9.

Tew’s reply started badly when Jordan Garrett was dismissed for a duck.

Dain Moreton, Harrison Smith, Curtly Slatter and Brock then all fell within nine runs of each other to leave the west Oxfordshire side struggling on 43-5.

Robbie Catling and Joe White soon followed, before Harris and Robbie Shurmer showed some resistence to steer Tew to 79-7.

But when Harris and Liam Manley were dismissed, it was only a matter of time.

Shurmer and Thomas put on 22 runs until the former became the final man out.

Leaders Banbury saw their match at Henley abandoned without a ball bowled.
