EDDIE Nix was jubilant after Bicester Town completed a stunning debut season in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East.

The Foxhunters missed out on the title by a point upon their return to competitive football.

And they completed their promotion-winning season in style with an 11-0 trouncing of Didcot Town Res on Wednesday.

Danny Bone hit four goals to finish as the division’s top scorer, while Kieran Scott and Cameron MacPherson bagged braces.

Adam Garner and Jordan Weaver also got on the scoresheet, with an own goal completing the rout.

Joint manager Nix said: “To beat anyone at any level by 11 goals is an exceptional achievement and it was the perfect way to finish the season.

“At the start of the season everyone had the jump on us and we did drop a few points early on, so to miss out on the title by just a single point shows how well we’ve settled.”

Carterton won Division 1 West on Wednesday with a 2-1 win at Hook Norton, courtesy of goals from Sean McKeon and Nick Thorne.

Steve Howkins pulled one back for the hosts.
