A superb all-round display by Chad Keegan ensured that Banbury finished the season on a high note with victory over Oxford in the OCB’s Bernard Tollett Cup final at Abingdon Vale.

The 36-year-old former Middlesex player returned amazing figures of 6-22 in just four overs as Oxford were bowled for 120 in the last of their 20 overs on Sunday.

After opener Hugo Darby hit 47, man-of the match Keegan capped Banbury’s run chase, completing their seven-wicket victory with successive sixes, as he finished on 39 not out.

So Banbury, who had to settle for runners-up spot in the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 1, finished a successful season with some silverware.

Scores: Oxford 120 (C Keegan 6-22), Banbury 122-3 (H Darby 47, C Keegan 39no).

Earlier, Thame had made it a double success by winning the Wilf Bennett Cup with an exciting seven run success over Oxford Downs at Abingdon.

Ollie Sutcliffe (42no) and man-of-the-match Hassam Mushtaq (40) helped the Cherwell League champions reach 150-6 from their 20 overs.

Downs seemed set for victory at 123-2 after 16 overs, after excellent innings from George Sandbach (51) and Will Watts (40), but they fell short, reaching only 143-7 Chris Jeffcock returned 3-20 and Musthaq 2-26.

Scores: Thame 150-6 (O Sutcliffe 42no, H Mushtaq 40), Oxford Downs 143-7 (G Sandbach 51, W Wattts 40), C Jeffcock 3-22).
