DEBUTANT Luke Cheshire produced an outstanding bowling display to inspire Oxfordshire Under 17s to a 59-run victory on first innings against Buckinghamshire at Amersham.

Cheshire, 15, returned figures of 4-4 in an astonishing six-over burst to break the back of the Bucks top order.

The victory puts them 16 points clear at the top of the table, but Bucks have a game in hand and Oxon must wait to see if they have done enough to secure the title.

Oxon were quickly on the back foot after losing opener Harry Thomas for eight and Olly Clarke run out for two.

However, George Reid went onto make 39, while Aadam Samiullah added 36.

A maiden half century from Brad Taylor (54) and 38 from Graham Beer took the visitors to 204-5, before they subsided to 224 all out.

Left-armer Cheshire made rapid inroads into the Bucks top-order, dismissing four of the first five batsmen for ducks to leave the hosts reeling at 37-5.

Finn Mason (56) rebuilt their innings, but Bucks were eventually all out for 165 as Oxon won on first innings by 59 runs.

In search of second innings points, Oxon declared on 152-6, Clark hitting 57.

Leaving Bucks 22 overs to bat, Oxon tried to make inroads, but despite Cheshire and Taylor taking early wickets, the hosts finished on 41-2.
