BANBURY’S stars of 2000, who won the first ever Home Counties Premier League, are set to return to the crease in aid of charity on Sunday.
They will take on a Jamie Briggs invitation team, which includes Banbury player and former Australian Test wicket-keeper/batsman Tim Paine, at White Post Road from 1pm.
Ex-Northants and Lancashire batsman Tim Roberts, as well as five sons of the 2000 team, will also turn out for Briggs’s XI.
The 40 over match will raise money to find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease, a degenerative condition that gradually damages parts of the nervous system, with £2,500 already in the pot.
There will also be a raffle and BBQ, while the bar will be open all day.
