OXFORD were condemned to their first defeat of the season as they were beaten by 65 runs at Five Ways Old Edwardians.

As a result, they slipped from first to third in Division 1 of the Women’s Midlands League.

Edwardians’ Minahil Zahoor and Isobel Godfrey put on 87 for the first wicket.

Zahoor went onto make 81 as the hosts set 186-7.

Oxford lost two early wickets, before a 61-run partnership between Eliza Goode and Paula Matthews put them back in the game.

However, Oxford were unable to keep up the chase.

In Division 2, Charlbury got the better of Banbury.

Rhian Todd hit 52 in Charlbury’s 140-8, before Banbury subsided to 88 all out.

MIRANDA Edwards (3-10) led the way as Charlbury earned a 54-run win at Aston Rowant in the Oxfordshire Under 15 Girls’ League.
