FORMER Banbury all-rounder Ed Smith made a stunning debut for Oxford in their five-wicket home win over Richmond in the Royal London Club Championship second round.

Smith removed both openers to reduce Richmond to 1-2 after the visitors had elected to bat first.

He added a third wicket as Richmond were bowled out for 133, finishing with 3-12 from his nine overs, with only Jack Porter (60) providing any prolonged resistance.

Opener Adam Hall (41) then set Oxford on the way to victory, which was secured with 14.2 overs to spare.

Ian Crosby’s side are now at home to Sunbury on May 31.
