Oxfordshire cricketer Jack Brooks is a surprise inclusion in England’s provisional World Cup squad.

A superb season with Yorkshire saw Brooks called up to the England Lions team currently touring South Africa.

But the bowler, from Tiddington, is yet to win a full cap for his country.

England, who will be captained by Alastair Cook, have to reduce the squad to 15 for the tournament, which takes place in Australia and New Zealand in February and March.

Brooks is one of seven Yorkshire players in the squad, along with Joe Root, Gary Ballance, Jonny Bairstow, Tim Bresnan, Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid.
