OXFORDSHIRE Football Association has said it is looking for new “club mentors” to train coaches at its community clubs.

Charter Standard Community Clubs are those which have 10 teams or more across different ages, as well as female and adult sides.

Now the organisation wants to appoint mentors to work with them as part of a scheme to better train their coaches.

It has previously worked with Henley Football Partnership, Thame Football Partnership and Summertown Stars AFC.

Spokeswoman Sarah Wood said: “The aim of the programme is to support the development of coaches in grassroots football.

“Feedback we have received from these clubs has been very positive with many coaches wanting to get involved in the programme.

“We now seek applications from coaches with the right credentials, knowledge, skills and attributes to provide mentoring opportunities.”

The association particularly wants to attract more coaches who are female, as well as those who have disabilities or may be from minority backgrounds, she added.

The closing day for applications is Friday, May 2.
