GREYHOUNDS: Trainer Kibble set for Coventry boost

Trainer Angie Kibble has expressed her delight after the track at Coventry agreed she could race her dogs there.

Following the demise of Oxford Stadium at the end of December last year, the Bampton-based handler had hoped she could be accommodated at Swindon, only for her proposal to get the thumbs-down.

After that move was rejected, she was offered a dual attachment to Perry Barr and Hall Green.

However, Perry Barr was a non-starter as far as Oxford’s eight-time champion trainer was concerned, due to the extra staffing costs involved.

And although she raced a number of dogs at Hall Green, she wasn’t able to give all of them a run-out, meaning those owners were becoming increasingly frustrated.

Last week, she was so concerned by the situation that she was seriously considering calling it a day.

However, there now appears to be light at the end of the tunnel.

“I have had to finish at Hall Green because I could only race 20 dogs,” said Kibble.

“I have to say that they were very good to me at Hall Green, but the owners were concerned because they want their dogs to race somewhere.

“So I rang Coventry and they have agreed to let me run all my dogs there.

“I am very grateful to them because I was concerned I could not run enough dogs. It’s good news and hopefully they will stick to their word.

“This will mean that the owners, who have been very loyal to me, should be happier.

“Friday was my last meeting at Hall Green. “I was happy to go to stay there, but it was just the amount of runners I could have was limited.

“This week I am going to start trialling at Coventry. I’ve got around 30 dogs to grade-in.”

Kibble admitted she had had a distressing couple of weeks.

“I’ve been worried to death about it,” she said.

“It’s very worrying trying to keep people happy all the time “The future was worrying me a bit because it’s basically my living.

“It would have been such a shame to pack it all up.

“I didn’t know which way to turn, but you have got to keep trying.

“Just about everything that could seems to have happened to me in the last couple of weeks.

“Oxford closed, which was criminal, then there were the floods, the ice and last Friday my partner Rob had a heart attack, which he’s recovering from.

“I am just hoping that Coventry works out, we’ll have to wait and see.”
