FOOTBALL: Crocker at the double

Joe Crocker’s brace helped Freeland to a 3-0 win at Kennington United in the only Oxfordshire Senior League game to survive the bad weather.

Crocker opened the scoring in the Premier Division clash after just five minutes when he ran on to a long ball, which went over Kennington defender Rob Cattell, before shooting past onrushing keeper Nick Hill.

Rob Andrew screwed a shot wide for Kennington just after the half-hour mark.

A minute later they fell further behind when Craig Wood lobbed Hill from 30 yards.

Freeland put the game beyond the reach of the home side on 43 minutes with Crocker firing home a penalty harshly awarded for handball against Jack Smith.
