DANNY Ligairi-Badham was not exactly getting carried away with Oxford Harlequins’ first win of his reign.

Quins new head coach said: “It was a very ugly win.

“Some of the things we have done in training, they brought to the game today.

“They have been taught to respect the ref a bit more and make sure they do their job as individuals.”

Ligairi-Badham felt Quins’ performance did not hit the heights of their last match when they were unlucky not to beat promotion-chasing Exmouth.

“In the first 20 minutes we were very dry,” he said. “The first battle you face is against yourselves.

“The game against Exmouth showed what we could do, but we didn’t get going as well today.

“However, it was still a win to build on.”
