A violent gang which burst into a flat before attacking two men with a knife and razor blade was jailed yesterday.

Oxford Crown Court heard Andre Parker, 20, Michael Purvis, 20, Ben Thompson, 20, and Dominic Daly-Vint, 16, forced their two victims to undress before attacking them with a knife, razor blade and frying pan.

Judge Patrick Eccles told the gang their attack, at a flat in Cherwell Court, Britannia Road, Banbury, in January, was an episode of "gratuitous brutality" to Christopher Hancock and Matthew Nash, against whom they held a grudge.

Purvis, of Lindsey Road, Banbury, Thompson, of Mascord Road, Banbury, and Daly-Vint, of no fixed address, all admitted burglary.

Daly-Vint, who also admitted wounding and causing actual bodily harm, was jailed for four years.

Thompson, who also admitted causing actual bodily harm, was jailed for two years and two months and Purvis, who also admitted wounding, was jailed for two years four months.

Parker, of Middleton Road, Banbury, who was convicted of aggravated burglary and wounding with intent after an earlier trial, was given an indefinite sentence for the public's protection and ordered to serve a minimum of three years and 128 days.

The court heard Parker stabbed Mr Nash twice in the chest, causing a collapsed lung.

Judge Eccles lifted restrictions on Daly-Vint's name being published.

I think it can be very easy to judge these people, but you don't know their backgrounds and the fact that if the system hadn't failed them the first time then they would have been rehabilitated. the system does not work and yet you send them to prison to learn how to be better criminals. well done goverment!

Not being funny, but i bet none of you fakes know the "criminals" - until the day you do , then sit there and judge people. it's really not right.. it's cowardish. until the day you see them and say it.. hush.

I know Nash and Hancock and I don't think they are grasses they did what was right they never asked to be broken into and embarrassed like that and no way on this earth did Nash deserve to be stabbed, I hope the scum who did it never get released, and they should have to write letters of appology to Nash and Hancock for their behaviour!!!!!
