An elderly man who died after a two-car collision on the M40 is expected to be identified on Monday.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway, two miles north of junction 8a, at Oxford Services, at about 1.50pm on Thursday.

He was seriously injured when the silver Ford Fiesta in which he was a passenger left the road after colliding with a red Ford Fiesta.

He was flown by air ambulance to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital but died soon after arriving.
