Firefighters are still busy today trying to avert further damage to Kelmscott Manor, the historic west Oxfordshire home of the Victorian designer and writer William Morris.
Crews from Burford and Eynsham are also pumping water from homes in the isolated village back into the swollen river Thames.
In his role as incident commander, Bob Swanton from the county council's fire and rescue service is at the scene and working hard with fire crews to minimise the effects of flooding in the village.
He said: "Residents have had a very difficult time here. At the height of the flood the village was over three feet deep in water.
"We've been pumping water away all night and it is still around two feet deep.
"However, community spirit is prevailing and everyone is very upbeat and helping each other to cope."
