TOWER block residents will not end up paying towards the £1m replacement of 'dangerous cladding' as the city council presses the Government to foot the bill.
Oxford City Council has begun work to strip Evenlode and Windrush Towers in Blackbird Leys of Vitrabond cladding, after Government tests found it was flammable following the Grenfell Tower disaster in June 2017.
The Government made it clear local authorities should be meeting the cost but the council's board member for housing said the council was 'being reasonable' to ask the Government to pay.
